Safeguarding
Our Kaleidoscope Safeguarding policy can be found here Safeguarding Policy
Here at Becket Primary School we take the protection and safety of our children very seriously. Our Safeguarding Policy outlines the procedures and systems in place to monitor the safety of our children. The Head of School is the Designated Lead responsible for safeguarding issues. There is also a governor responsible for safeguarding. We work closely with parents and outside agencies in this matter. All staff receive regular child protection/safeguarding training. All adults working with children at Becket School undergo an enhanced police Criminal Background check before they are allowed to work with our children. We follow national and local government safer recruitment guidelines.
If the school has any safeguarding or child protection concerns then it will contact the parent or carer. The school has a duty to refer serious concerns to the North Somerset Social Care Team.

If your concern is urgent and our school is closed, you can still contact us out-of-hours by sending an email to safeguard@becket.n-somerset.sch.uk any time day or night.
If you think someone is in immediate danger, the best thing to do is call 999 for the emergency services.
Prevent Strategy
From 1st July 2015 all schools are subject to a duty under section 26 of the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015, in the exercise of their functions, to have "due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism". This duty is known as the Prevent Duty. It applies to a wide range of public-facing bodies, including all primary and secondary schools.
Schools can build pupils' resilience to radicalisation by providing a safe environment for debating controversial issues and helping children to understand how they can influence and participate in decision making. Schools are already expected to promote the spiritual, moral and cultural development of pupils and, within this, fundamental British values.
Mandatory Reporting of FGM - Procedural Information
From 21st October 2015 it is mandatory for teachers, health and social workers to report to the police if they find, or are told, that someone under 18 has undergone FGM.
