Reception

Welcome to Reception!

Starting school is a huge milestone for both children and their families. We welcome you to Becket Primary School and look forward to starting this exciting journey with you all.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the building blocks and foundations of every child's learning journey, and we can't wait to share this exciting and important time in your child's life with you all.

It has been lovely to come and visit you on home visits this week and we're looking forward to welcoming you all into school on Friday.

Our class name is Marco Polo. This is the name of a famous explorer who we will learn more about once the children are settled into school.

My name is Miss Cox and I am your child's teacher. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Hawkes and we also have Mr Griffiths who is our apprentice in the class 4 days a week. We are also very lucky to have other members of the team who work with the children on a regular basis. We have an open door policy at Becket so we would invite you to come and speak to us at any time.

Our topics throughout the year in Reception are:

In Term 1 our topic is ‘Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear.’

In Term 2 our topic is ‘A Season of Colour.’

In Terms 3 and 4 our topic is ‘Superheroes and Super Me!’

In Term 5 our topic is 'Then and Now.'

In Term 6 our topic is 'Come away with Me.'

You will find the information saved below which we shared in our new parents meeting back in June which gives you all of our induction process details and a snapshot of Reception and school life at Becket. We will be inviting you in soon for you to find out some more information about what learning looks like and how you can support your child at home.

Please come and see us if you have any questions or if you would like to share anything with us.

Thank you,

Miss Cox
